Do you toss and turn in the middle of the night?

Wake up in a different position than you went to sleep in?

You might be a combination sleeper, and not even fully realize it. A combination sleeper is anyone who sleeps in more than one position throughout the night.

This means you’re restless, aren’t getting enough sleep, and possibly hurting or craning your neck in the middle of the night.

Let’s avoid all that nonsense by getting you one of the best pillows for combinations sleepers, and winning the nightly war on rest and relaxation.

A better night’s sleep will ensure more energy, and a general sense of comfort throughout the next day.

This is how you achieve that.

#1 Snuggle-Pedic Original Ultra Luxury Sleeper

Snuggle Pedic Bamboo Foam Pillow Review

CHECK LATEST PRICE >>

Take just about everything that we loved about the Snuggle-Pedic, and wrap it up into LIANLAM.

This was a very close second, and includes that same excellent commitment to safety that many other combination sleeper pillows offer.

There’s no PBDE flame retardants, mercury, lead, formaldehyde or other harmful toxic ingredients used in the design. You’re sleeping on one of the safest possible things ever made.

As a tie for the best pillow for back and side sleeper, it’s almost impossible to say which is more comfortable. They were both a real treat to test out. With LIANLAM, you get a super soft and comfortable pillow case included with your purchase, which wraps around the shredded bamboo and polyester pillow beautifully.

The only downside to it is that it’s tough as nails to get off the pillow when it comes time to clean, but hey, it’s better than those horribly loose pillow cases that you’re combatting with right now.

The combination of bamboo and polyester blend keep this nice and breathable. Bamboo is known to be great for allowing proper air flow, and that’s exactly what it does here.

LIANLIM doesn’t have a lot of pillow sizes here, because they’re under the impression that you have a queen bed or higher. That can be an inconvenience depending on what you’re currently sleeping on.

#3 Coop Home Goods Premium Adjustable Loft Pillow

Coop Home Goods Premium Adjustable Pillow

Ever had a back and side sleeper pillow with microfiber in the filling?

I’m willing to bet not.

Coop Home Goods appears twice in this buying guide because they’ve found a way to innovate your standard side sleeper pillow. This filling type not only helps with keeping cool throughout the night, but it’s also designed to contour to your sleeping position.

Everyone sleeps differently. Even if you can be categorized as a combination sleeper, you will toss and turn differently than other combinations sleepers. You have different contact points with your pillow and bedding.

Since the filling here is very specifically designed, it will cradle your neck and head instead of minimizing circulation. You barely have to fluff this pillow; one quick shake and the filling moves around to fill the space.

Coop Home Goods includes their 100-night sleep guarantee, which allows you to test this out and send it back if you’re not satisfied. They give a full refund, though we highly doubt that you’re going to need to ship it back.

Whether you grab the king or queen size, this is a pillow that you’ll fall in love with the moment it meets your head.

On top of their money-back guarantee, there’s also a five-year warranty on each pillow, so you can quite literally rest assured knowing that it’s covered. If the filling falls flat or if the support fades, just contact Coop Home Goods and you’ll be all set.

That’s 1,826 nights of sleep under the blanket of a powerful warranty. It doesn’t get much better than that.

#4 Coop Home Goods King Size Premium Pillow

Coop Home Goods King Size Premium Pillow review

Designed with cool filling in multiple shapes, Coop Home Goods developed one of the best side and back pillows that we’ve ever had the pleasure of sleeping on.

The filling is not only hypoallergenic, but comes in different sizes specifically to contour your back and neck while you’re sleeping. Instead of just flattening out, this keeps the pillow nice and fluffy throughout the night, maximizing your comfort without interruption.

Just like the other Coops pillow that we reviewed, their filled is made from a blend of memory foam and microfiber, which is what gives it that unique feel.

Made in the United States, Coop Home Goods makes these chemical-free to give you a better night’s sleep and eliminate and health concerns that you could end up with from department store pillows.

Both sides of this pillow are the cool side—it’s not going to sleep hot, and if you somehow get it to, a quick shake will push enough air through it to cool things off.

One of our favorite things about this pillow is that it’s covered by the extensive warranty and money-back guarantee that Coop Home Goods offers across the board. You get one-hundred nights to test this out or send it back for a full refund, which is excellent.

But then, you’re also covered by a five-year warranty. It’s no secret that these pillows aren’t cheap, but they’re also not going to give out on you anytime soon. Everything stays at a nice balance between soft and firm, offering support while remaining soft to the touch.

#5 BioPEDIC Premium SofLOFT Body Pillow

BioPEDIC Premium SofLOFT Body Pillow Review

CHECK LATEST PRICE >>

Body pillows. They’re often thought to be the best pillow for mixed sleeper couples, so that each of you get your own dedicated comfort.

We’d have to agree. This body pillow is the most inexpensive option we have on this list, and even with that, it still comes with an absolute ton of fantastic features, including a fully hypoallergenic construction.

The pillow casing is made out of high thread count cotton (240), which feels like you’re laying in a five-star hotel bed. The higher the thread count, the softer (and stronger) your pillow is.

That hypoallergenic fiber filling isn’t anything like memory foam, but it’s designed to withstand just as many nights sleeps as memory foam.

BioPEDIC includes a five-year warranty with this pillow, covering just about everything you can think of. That means well over a thousand different nights of sleep, all under warranty, all for a price that’s a fraction of the other pillows we’ve covered.

What’ve you got to lose?

Combination Sleeper Pillow Buying Guide and FAQ

What to Look for in Combination Sleeper Pillows

In the best pillow for side and stomach sleepers, you need to look for a few different attributes to see if it’s worthy of your money, and your sleep.

Comfort sleep

Materials

What material is the filling made out of, the cover, and the case?

The cover (between the filling and case) is perhaps the most important. You don’t want constricting materials, such as cotton when you can avoid it. The materials should allow the filling to breathe.

For the filling, memory foam, microfiber and natural fiber will all make excellent combination sleeper pillows. Materials should be simple to clean, and hypoallergenic to reduce dust.

Hypoallergenic

Most people misconstrue the reason you would get a hypoallergenic pillow.

It’s not something that’s just designed for people with allergies, though it usually presents itself that way. When something is hypoallergenic, it doesn’t hold onto dander and dust like a standard version of that item would.

In this case, hypoallergenic covers and cases work to avoid absorbing dust and mites whenever possible. Keep in mind that there is no regulation on what is considered hypoallergenic, so it’s important to pay attention to the materials.

Machine Washable

This one is a toss-up.

Most combination sleeper pillows are machine washable, but even then, you should really only put them into HE washers and dryers.

You’ll even see this on the labeling that comes with your new pillow. Old style turbine washers can diminish the integrity of your case, and come warranties won’t cover that.

If your pillow is not machine washable, you will have to get it dry cleaned or dry clean it yourself in order to upkeep its durability. It’s not an end-all decision if your pillow is not machine washable, but it’s important to know either way.

Who Exactly Are Combination Sleepers?

Foam Pillows for side sleepers

TO know what a combination sleeper is, first you need to know what a standard sleeper is.

Standard sleepers remain in one position throughout the night. It means you go to sleep on your back, you rest for the recommended amount of time, and when you awake in the morning, you haven’t moved.

Combination sleepers can’t do that. They move around in their sleep, no matter what. You might go to sleep on your back and wake up on your stomach.

Many combination sleepers, whether they know it or not, will often sleep on their sides. This position allows your body to move more throughout the night.

If you lay down and you’re naturally more comfortable on your side or your stomach, that’s a strong indication that you are a combination sleeper.

The reason this is problematic is that you’re not going to remain comfortable throughout the night.

If a standard sleeper lays down on their back, they can ensure that they’re in a comfortable position that won’t hurt their spine or shoulders while they sleep. Combination sleepers don’t have that luxury.

Aches, pain, and eventual spinal damage can occur if you don’t find a way to combat combination sleeping.

What is the Best Material for Combination Sleeper Pillows?

Memory foam tops the list for filling, for a few reasons.

If you roll over in the middle of the night onto your down or feather pillow, you’re going to squish them. It’s not going to feel comfortable anymore, it’s just a flat surface.

Memory foam only reacts to your pressure input. It withstands as much as you give without giving up.

While it contours to your body and the way you sleep, it also allows air to travel through it (with the right cover, at least).

Now, on to covers and cases.

Your pillow cover should be made from a breathable material. Bamboo and polyester actually allow good amounts of air to travel through the memory foam.

The only cover material that would possibly rank better is silk, but nobody’s looking to spend a fortune on a real silk pillowcase.

Is Memory Foam Any Good?

Memory foam has been around for ages, and for good reason.

You’ve only seen minor advances (such as gel padding, or crazy diamond bits included for a “cooling effect”). But at its core, memory foam has stayed the same.

Sleeping on a comfort Foam Pillow

There are ads everywhere that like to shoot down memory foam, but in reality it’s integrated into everything because of how well it works. I will say this: memory foam, on its own, does not sleep cool.

That’s why you need quality covers. Memory foam will help circulate air without sleeping too hot, but the issue to date is that people use suffocating cotton comforters and pillow cases.

That’s why you’ll see a lot of talk about memory foam mattresses sleeping hot. Where is the air supposed to go when you encapsulate it in a cover and then sleep on it?

Here’s to Getting a Better Night Sleep From Here Onward

It’s time to get the best pillow for combination sleepers, the best one to suit your sleeping habits, and get back to a good night’s rest. When was the last time you truly had a great night’s sleep and woke up feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to tackle the day?

Face it—you’re a combination sleeper, and it’s time to address it to fix the problem.

Memory foam filling, microfiber and high thread count cotton will transport you to a place you’ve never been before: relaxation in its purest form. Y’know, you still have to address that mattress problem, but let’s tackle one thing at a time, shall we?
