Opening Root Chakra

Physical Symptoms of Root Chakra Opening

What are chakras, and do they have any scientific basis? The answer is that they don’t.

Still, for over a thousand years, chakras have been referred to as powerful disc-like energy around the body that controls physical and emotional health.

The simple rule regarding chakras is that you have to keep them open or unblocked to maintain good physical and emotional health. When they are opened, the body functions maximally. When blocked, there is an imbalance and lack of fulfillment.

In the following article, we will discuss chakras, problems that might arise from blocked chakras, and more.

Chakras – Definition & Types

Body Energy Chakras

Chakras refer to the various energy centers in the body. The word chakra means wheel, which is a representation of the energy centers in the body. The chakras, or spinning wheels, correspond to specific organs and significant nerve bundles in the body.

Seven chakras in the body run from the root at the base of the spine to the top of the head.

They are:

Root Chakra

Also known as Muladhara, this chakra is at the base of the spine and is the foundation that helps individuals to stay grounded and stable. It is the root that holds all other chakras and the one that connects us to the Earth.

Sacral Chakra

Known as Svadhisthana, it is located just below the belly button. This chakra provides sexual and creative energy.

Solar plexus chakra

The Manipura, as it is known, is in the stomach and supplies energy for confidence and self-esteem.

Heart Chakra

The Anahata is the chakra located at the center of the chest, which radiates energy for affection and compassion.

Throat chakra

The Vishuddha is the chakra located in the throat. It controls the ability to speak fluently.

Third eye chakra

The Ajna is the chakra around the forehead that supplies the energy for intuition, imagination, and string instinct.

Crown Chakra

The Sahasrara, the last chakra, is stationed at the top of the head and supplies a sense of purpose.

According to the concept of chakra, a person’s health and well-being are dependent on the opening of the chakras. If any of them is blocked, it will result in physical and/or emotional issues related to that part of the body.

If, for example, the root chakra is blocked, the symptoms are a lack of stability and a general sense of imbalance.

What is Root Chakra

What is Root Chakra

The root chakra is believed to be the most important chakra in the body because it is the base of the other chakras and is responsible for a person being stable, well-grounded, and safe. Remember the 3S – survival, security, and safety as they are related to the root chakra.

When the root chakra is blocked, the body is disconnected from the Earth, uncoordinated, and there’s no stability, without which a person cannot function properly. When this root chakra is balanced, there is a renewed drive to fulfill a purpose, the focus is sharpened, and the survival instinct is right on point. A person also feels valued and connected.

As highlighted earlier, the root chakra is located at the base of the lower spine and is the root of all other chakras. All other chakras are challenged if the root is faulty, making it the most important one. Below, we’ll discuss what could happen if your root chakra is blocked.

Problems Caused by Blocked Root Chakra

Problems Caused by Blocked Root Chakra

The root chakra, which is the base of other chakras, is mainly blocked by trauma, great anxiety, or fear.

Other leading causes are fear of poverty, feelings of insecurity, war, childhood abuse or neglect, and great calamities. That’s why people experience a general sense of worthlessness and lack of purpose after traumatic experiences.

When the root chakra is blocked, there’s no energy flow to other chakras and a general sense of insecurity. A person with a blocked root chakra will experience a general lack of drive and lack of purpose.

The solution to a blocked chakra is to open it with procedures such as chakra meditation, yoga poses, chanting mantras, and breathwork. When you succeed in reopening the chakra, the energy locked up within it can be released, and the proper functioning of the body can resume.

Other steps that can lead to root chakra healing include placing gemstones on the exact location of the root chakra area, walking barefoot, psychotherapy, special diets (red foods), and physical exercise. Others include sound vibrations, where one listens to sound frequencies related to a specific chakra, listening to chakra music, and saying words of affirmation.

Some problems that a closed chakra causes include confusion, delusion, anxiety, and indecision. The blockage can result in physical issues like arthritis, emotional issues like a general feeling of insecurity, and mental issues like the inability to focus on a task.

Let’s highlight them one by one.

Physical

Some of the physical challenges a closed root chakra can bring about are:

  • Insomnia: If the root chakra is blocked, you will likely experience difficulty sleeping or doing so soundly.
  • Arthritis: Arthritis can result when the lower body, the feet, the base of the spine, and the lower back are not supplied with energy due to the blockage.
  • General body weakness: The lack of drive to live each day results in feelings of fatigue and heaviness. Other physical problems include eating abnormalities, weight gain (or weight loss), and low immunity.

Emotional

The emotional problems one might experience if they have a blocked root chakra include great anxiety, fear of the unknown, depression, lack of motivation, cynicism, and lack of appreciation.

Unless quickly addressed, the emotional problems will undoubtedly affect other chakras. They may lead to a general breakdown of the mind and, if left unchecked, in extreme cases, may lead to suicidal behavior. It also results in difficulty in communication, fear of making decisions, and nightmares.

Physical Changes After Opening Root Chakra

Physical Changes After Opening Root Chakra

Once you open the root chakra, you’ll see immediate physical and emotional changes.

The emotional changes include an increased sense of focus and awareness and the sense of feeling grounded, making you more secure, more assured, and well-balanced. You feel better connected to yourself, the Earth, and your purpose.

Some physical changes you will experience when your root chakra opens are:

  • Improved sleep: When the root chakra opens, the brain functions better, and the body rests better. Sleep is restored, and the body can function correctly.
  • Reduced physical pain: Physical pain due to the lack of energyrelease to the lower spine is reduced gradually as the root chakra opens up.The body is stronger and walking, or other physical exercise is no longer strenuous.
  • Increased energy: Increased energy levels are also noticed with the opening of the root chakra. The body can do much more for longer due to the greater release of energy.
  • Tingling sensations: These sensations are felt when procedures for chakra opening are carried out. These sensations are usually present in the area of the root chakra, that is, the pelvic area.

Let’s note that the changes won’t be immediate. But as you progress, you’ll see improvements.

Conclusion

The root chakra is the most important chakra and is responsible for a person’s general physical and mental stability.

When closed or blocked, it can lead to severe issues, such as insomnia, stress, and weakness of both soul and body. Once opened, however, a person regains their strength, sleeps better, and their body feels stronger.

If you feel weak and not in control of your life, we highly recommend you try some yoga, meditation, or other chakra-opening techniques.
