Your mind and body, as well as everything around you, are in a constant state of vibration.

Sound is a vibration that resonates with the soul and can be felt in every fiber of your body. Sound also has an amazing power to heal on a physical level as well as an emotional and spiritual one.

The seven energy centers in our body are also referred to as the chakras, and they have their own frequency. Certain sounds have the vibrational power to tap into these frequencies and bring it into balance and harmony with the rest of the universe.

Consequently, these sounds awaken a specific emotional state and wisdom within us, starting from the root into the pelvis, the heart, throat, solar plexus, third eye, and the crown of the head.

The word chakra means “disk” or “wheel” in Sanskrit and refers to the energy centers in your body.

These disks or wheels of spinning energy correspond to certain nerve bundles and major organs. The chakras, however, need to stay open or balanced in order to function at their best.

If they are blocked, you may experience physical or emotional symptoms that are connected to a particular chakra. Ultimately, there are seven main chakras that run along the spine. They start at the base of your spine and extend to the crown of the head.

Lots of people believe that you have at least 114 different chakras in the body. However, there are seven main ones that are most often referred to, so let’s take a closer look at them.

Root chakra

The Muladhara or root chakra is located at the base of your spine. Ultimately, it provides you with a foundation for life and helps you feel grounded and more capable of withstanding challenges. The root chakra is also responsible for your sense of stability and security.

Sacral chakra

The Svadhisthana or sacral chakra is located just below your belly button. The chakra is responsible for your creative energy as well as sexual energy. It’s linked to how you relate to your emotions as well as the emotions of others.

Solar plexus chakra

The Manipura or solar plexus chakra is located in your stomach region. It’s responsible for self-esteem and confidence as well as helping you feel more in control of your life.

Heart chakra

Anahata or the heart chakra is situated near your heart in the center of your chest. Therefore it should come as no surprise that the heart chakra is all about our ability to love and show compassion for others.

Throat chakra

Vishuddha or the throat chakra is located in your throat and has to do with your ability to communicate properly.
